All Things Happen for a Reason

Two weeks ago we were experiencing some problems with our inverter.  We had to boondock out at the RV repair facility to coordinate some of the repairs.  This was certainly a new experience for us.  The dealership was right off the freeway and we were feeling a little unsettled.  We took Jimmy for a walk to a KOA campground located next to the dealership.  The campground was much larger than it appeared and after walking across a bridge we found an additional area and main office. We met Danny, a camp host (workamper) at the park and struck up a conversation.  He told us that this was their second season at the campground and that they really liked the working there.  He mentioned that they could really use some more workampers.

Well, to make a long story short I am the new workamper at KOA Indianapolis.  We talked for some time with the owners (Dave and Lori) and what they really needed was someone to work in the front office.  John works late most days and on Saturday. So, for now, I'll be working the 20 hours required for our site, propane, wyfi, and laundry.  We are thrilled.  Not only will it help us save some more money, but it will give me great experience with a reservation system.  Plus, I'll be helping with a breakfast each Saturday morning and gain more customer/food service experience.

We have a nice full hook up site with 50 amp service.  Our site is next to another camp host couple (Mike and Tamaira).  There are four couples that help take care of this park.  The owners are very actively involved and live in a  house on site with four children, one dog,  a horse, and two new kittens.

Here are a few pictures of the campground.  We'd love for you to come visit sometime.

Very nice rural location, conveniently located near I-70 on the east side of Indianapolis

  1. Wow....that is amazing! Things do happen for a reason. A very nice looking KOA park, very well maintained and the sites look nice and level and your site looks very nice. This will really give you great experience in workamping. I don't know if you have been following our blog recently but we are camp hosting at FDR State Park in Georgia. It indeed helps with the budget.:) Are you both working?
How long will you all be there? We are coming toward your area in Sept. for the Escapee rally (Escapade). Look forward to meeting you guys one day.
