T - 99 Days to retirement!!!

Wow, we are in the double digits.
Ninety-nine days from now John can retire from the Post Office.
He has set his retirement date to November 26th.

After much discussion, we also decided that my last day at the hospital would be October 29th.  I wrote my resignation letter today.  I probably looked at the email for about 10 minutes before I could hit the send button.  I have been discussing this with my boss for a long time  He has appreciated it that we have kept him informed. By giving him more than an expected notice, hopefully he can move forward and fill my position before I leave.  I have been a nurse for over 30 years.  I'm excited and at the same time feeling a little bit uneasy.  I'm thinking that this is a normal reaction.

We have reached a  fork in the road.  We will soon be going down a new path and one certainly not traveled by most.  Sort of like the road less traveled.

  2. I felt the exact same way when I wrote my letter of intent to the Head Master of the Academy where I was teaching. I had already retired from public education and had taught four years at a private academy in LaGrange. I knew when I resigned that this would be the end of my teaching career (35 years). I couldn't imagine NOT teaching. Well, I did send the letter and I did retire and I am so happy. It was a great career and I enjoyed almost every moment of it. Wonderful memories.
It is a big step! The hardest part is over. Now sit back and enjoy the results of all those years in your career. Nursing is such an important career....thanks for your years of service to others and CONGRATULATIONS!!

  8. It was such a liberating feeling submitting my notice to retire back in Oct of 2007. But, when I did finally walk off the job for the last time on Jan 28th 2008 (after a nice retirement party) I was a bit melancholy. But now, after 2yrs+ on the road, I don't know how I ever found time to work. 8^)
Enjoy your retirement and full-timing life style. I know you will.
