I’m Just Saying It’s Been A Little Busy Around Here

Watkins Glen, NY (62 degrees, breezy, blue skies)

Yesterday two new “super deluxe cabins” arrived to be installed at the campground where we are working.  A concrete mixer arrived to pour cement in several areas around the campground.  Sam’s wife went into labor (turned out to be a false alarm) and   the KOA inspectors arrived.  It’s a busy place!

Seventy  campers arrive this weekend.  This will be our first big weekend.  It’s an appreciation weekend for past customers.  You pay for one night and get the second one free.  The kitchen is being cleaned and prepared to serve breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. The campstore has been stocked and ready for business.

John & John

John and John (my husband and the contractor have the same name) have been busy working on the deluxe cabins.  They are pre fab cabins that KOA manufactures in Indiana.  The cabins are on wheels and  are pulled by a truck..  Below is a picture of one that was delivered yesterday.

The wheels are removed and the cabin is placed on blocks.  Steps are installed and skirting is run around the base.  New decks are also being built that look over the ravine and a pretty stream.

They sleep up to eight and have a two bedrooms, loft, full kitchen, and bathroom.

This is the first time John has been involved with installing new cabins.  There is still a lot of work that has to be done but they’ve made great progress.

    1. In the summertime the rate starts at $160 a night. All you need to bring is your food and personal items. They come completely furnished with plates, dishes, silverware, towels, and linens.

  2. 70 in one weekend...WOW. You two will have your hands full. I just can't believe those are called "cabins." Looks more like a small house.

    1. Thanks for the link. We have not hiked at the State Park yet. It is still a little too wet. Your pictures are wonderful and have inspired us to see it soon.

  4. Those cabins seem like a great idea for large families and even small groups. Lot of work!

  5. I feel somewhat guilty at how easy our workamping experience is, although this looks like a beautiful KOA.
