Unexpected Change In Plans

Unfortunately, we have left our workamping job at Cripple Creek KOA.  It was a very difficult situation and we finally decided it was best to leave.  We  certainly planned on keeping our commitment and were supposed to stay until September 15th. However, we found it impossible to continue.

We are now trying to decide what direction to go.  Should we find another workamping job for the summer, go visit friends, explore a new area??? We are not sure.  Other workampers have told us sometimes this happens.

One thing we are sure of -  it did not make sense to be so unhappy.  Fulltiming gives you a lot of freedom and luckily we are not dependent on the income. Having a home on wheels helps too.

We will keep you posted.

  2. Good for you. I agree sometimes it makes sense to move on. If you decide to head west, we can recommend the Northwest. It is beautiful out here...

  4. Sounds like you made the right decision. When you are ready I would love to hear your story - what prompted the decision and how you came about it and your leaving.

We have heard of workampers leaving in the middle of the night (previous managers here at Lone Star Corral) and workampers giving one weeks notice and leaving early.

May you feel peace with your decision and as you travel on. Stay safe.

  5. It is always difficult to make these decisions but being miserable everyday is just not worth it. We had to change our work camping plans because of mother nature last winter and ended up just exploring an area we hadn't planned on and it was great and I think the right thing. I know you will figure out what you should be doing. We wish you the best.

  6. I'm sure you've made the right decision for you and that's all that matters.

As for other's wanting to know why? It's nobody else's business as far as I'm concerned. I don't feel any explanations are necessary at all.

  8. Rick says: "As for other's wanting to know why? It's nobody else's business as far as I'm concerned. I don't feel any explanations are necessary at all."

Telling the story behind this might help others who work camp, or are interested in work camping.

Obviously rv'ers who have no interest in work camping wouldn't think an explanation is necessary.

But it might be helpful for those of us who do.

  9. Sorry to hear things didn't work out for you there. I am sure your decision to leave was for a good reason. If you are happy that is what is important, not the reason for leaving.
