Black Bear taking a dip in the lake to cool off
Everyone is complaining about the heat…even the bears! Although the weather is much hotter is many parts of the country, it is definitely above average for the Black Hills.
We decided to visit Bear Country a couple of days ago and really enjoyed our visit. It is a drive thru park (windows closed) where you can view all kinds of wildlife. The park was very clean and the animals seemed to be enjoying their habitat. It is a huge park expansive park.
Bull Elk
Big Horn Sheep
There were lots and lots of bears! You can take your time and take as many pictures (through your closed windows) as you like. I had a difficult time picking just a few to show you. Please “bear” with me!
After driving the loop there is area where you can get out and visit the gift shop, have a picnic, and/or walk through baby land. Most of the animals were hiding due to the high heat but we saw a few cute ones.
We enjoyed our visit very much. It is a little expensive ($16 per person) but we thought it was worth it. The best time to visit is in the morning or early evening.
the bears are so cute!..almost like they are saying okay 'take my picture!'...sure I say they are cute in the photos but sure as heck wouldn't want to meet on a trail!!
