" I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house"
Nathaniel Hawthorne
Jackson, WY (56 degrees, chilly)
John and I have spent the past several evenings with our friend Linda driving around the area viewing the fall color. It's just spectacular! The maple trees are a bright vivid red and the many of the locals say it's even more beautiful than ever. The aspen trees are quaking in the yellow splendor and the cottonwoods are tall and splendid. We've also been told the fall color can be fleeting and if there is a good rain storm the leaves fall very quickly. There is much to do at home with housekeeping and laundry, but it have to wait for now. The trees are calling!
So, without further ado here are a very of my photographs. It was very difficult choosing the best ones to share. They are all so beautiful.
Snake River
These were taken in our campground - Gros Ventre (within Grand Teton National Park). It has been a wonderful place to hang out while we have been working for Grand Teton Association.
We went on a fun river float trip with our friend Linda along the Snake River which runs through the Grand Teton National Park. It was such a spectacular day. I'll be writing a post about it soon with more details. We were lucky enough to be on this trip on a perfect blue sky day with the trees in their peak autumn finery.
Bald Eagle enjoying the fall day too!
My favorite photo
Menor's Ferry
Schwabacher Landing offers some great views of the Teton Range. It's the reflections in the water which add to the beauty in such a special way.
I love all the textures in this photo
The following photos are of a very famous overlook called Oxbow Bend. This is one of our favorite parts of the park and the overlook of Mt. Moran always takes my breath away.
The aspen grove photos below are taken as you approach the Chapel of Transfiguration.
Last but not least is this bear climbing into a tree in search of berries near Murie Center
Which season is your favorite?
I'll end this post with a great quote which is a perfect description of autumn.
"Autumn...the year's last, loveliest smile."
William Cullen Bryant
Awesome!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty colors. Steve and I road through part of Yellowstone today. It was rainy and overcast but still beautiful!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are certainly making us want to visit the Grand Tetons. What an amazing place and you are lucky to have spent the summer there. Have you considered having one of your photos made into a "canvas" print? There is a guy here who sells his photos at craft shows. He has them blown up and printed to look like a canvas painting. They turn out so nice. Your photos would look great that way and surely you could find a few inches in the MH to hang one. :) When are you heading south? Hope to see you this winter.
ReplyDeleteExcellent shots,thanks for sharing.
